6 Habits of Successful Online Entrepreneurs

                                                    6 Habits of Online Entrepreneurs

Online entrepreneurship has grown significantly in the past few years. I started my online business in 2008, creating articles as a solo freelance writer. Since then I have grown my business to a sixty freelance writer tribe and a kickass business partner.
These days everybody wants to build a business online, even with an offline business, the Internet does play a part. One thing you need to remember when you are setting up an online business is that does require lots of dedication and hard work. However, with consistency, focus and a clear plan, nothing is impossible. In this post, I am going to share with you, six habits of successful online entrepreneurs.
It certainly is not easy, but it is worth it.

  1. They Wake Up Early
Waking up early is not set in stone however, it does make all the difference. I think it is important to identify when you are most productive. When you do this, you can work out whether or not waking up early is essential for you. Waking up early has changed the game for me. I experimented with waking up at 5 am every day for 30 days and I experienced massive change. This is what I noticed:

-I woke up positive and ready to face the day
-More focused
-Productivity increased
-My working day is over by lunchtime most days
-More time to spend with friends and family
-More time to read, workout and do the things I love besides work
-Less tired during the day
Strangely, when I wake up late, I am exhausted by 2pm. When I wake up earlier, I feel more energetic and I sleep better at night.
“The time just before dawn contains the most energy of all hours of the day. This has helped me become an early riser and an early doer…. When I wake to see that it’s light out already, I feel the world has started without me.”
~Terri Guillemets
“It is well to be up before daybreak, for such habits contribute to health, wealth, and wisdom.”
~Aristotle
The difference between rising at five and seven o’clock in the morning, for forty years, supposing a man to go to bed at the same hour at night, is nearly equivalent to the addition of ten years to a man’s life.”
~Philip Doddridge

2. They Have a Tribe of Like-minded People
I underestimated the power of a tribe when I first started my business. I tried to do everything on my own. I isolated myself and focused on trying to be a one woman band. However, as time went on I realized that I needed something more. Working a 9-5 job is certainly not for me but community spirit of the 9-5 world is something I craved. I found it when I joined a female entrepreneurship group on Meetup.com. I have to admit that building my tribe of successful women has spurred me on immeasurably.
3. They Read
Learning is an ongoing thing, keep learning, reading and growing. Most successful entrepreneurs read a minimum of one book a week. I read books on my Kindle and listen to audiobooks on Audible. Taking the time to read has really changed my entrepreneurial life.
4. They Set Goals and Have a Positive Mindset

“If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes.” —Andrew Carnegie

Goal setting is essential to building your online business. If you fail to set goals or intentions, your day to activities will lack clarity and focus. Set short and long term goals, plan and execute. Things will not always go according to plan however, if you focus on the day to processes, you will eventually see results. Do a quick search on YouTube and you will find plenty of videos where successful entrepreneurs talk about the importance of setting goals.

They Listen to Podcasts

I am a massive fan of podcasts. Here are some of the podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis.

Consistency

Consistency is key, you do not have to be the best, you have to be consistent. You can be the best at something but if you lack consistency, you will fail. Stick to the process, and do something daily to achieve your business goals. Nothing comes easy, success does not come overnight, it comes over a long period of time. Consistent effort will eventually result in success.

My favourite quote on consistency:

“It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It's what we do consistently.”
Anthony Robbins
